BJP Gains Strength in Tamulpur Ahead of Assembly Elections

Tumpur: The Bharatiya Janata Party received a boost in Tamulpur as more than a hundred leaders and workers from various parties and organisations formally joined the party at a programme held at the district office on Saturday night.

The joining event comes ahead of the Assam Assembly elections scheduled for April 9 and is seen as a move to further consolidate the party’s organisational base in the region. Among those who joined were several former leaders of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), along with grassroots workers from different political backgrounds. According to party sources, the new entrants joined voluntarily, expressing faith in the BJP’s ideology and hoisting the party flag.

Speaking to the media, Tamulpur District BJP President Rajesh Boro said that the party’s development-oriented and people-centric policies are drawing increasing public support. He noted that the steady rise in membership reflects growing confidence in the BJP’s governance.

Boro expressed optimism about the upcoming polls, stating that the NDA alliance is expected to perform strongly not only in the Tamulpur constituency but across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). He also voiced confidence in the formation of a BJP-led government in the state under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma. Several senior party leaders were present at the programme, including Acharya Parmanand Ji, former BTC MCLA Hemanta Kumar Rabha, and leaders Somnath Basumatary, Bhrigu Deka, Dayal Das, and Dipen Kalita.
