BJP Leader Kamal Kumar Medhi Challenges Opposition Unity and Questions AGP Seat Demands in Bajali

Guwahati, Feb 26: Addressing a gathering of party workers and local leaders in the Bajali constituency on Wednesday, February 25, BJP leader Kamal Kumar Medhi leveled sharp criticisms against the opposition, alleging a visible lack of cohesion within their alliance. Medhi suggested that recent developments have exposed significant cracks in the opposition ranks, pointing to conflicting claims over constituencies as evidence of deeper strategic discord. He asserted that the current political landscape reveals a clear absence of unity, casting doubt on the strength of the alliance framework as elections approach.

The discourse also shifted toward the internal dynamics of the ruling alliance, specifically regarding seat-sharing with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). Medhi addressed reports that the AGP is seeking the Barpeta, Bajali, and Bhabanipur-Sarbhog constituencies, openly questioning the rationale behind such extensive demands. He remarked that if every such constituency were allotted to the alliance partner, it would leave the BJP with nowhere to contest, highlighting a need for a more balanced distribution of power.

Emphasizing the principle of reciprocity, Medhi noted that cooperation within an alliance must be mutual rather than unilateral. He argued that since the two parties are partners, the AGP should offer its support to the BJP in these specific areas. Regarding the Bajali seat, Medhi projected a front of internal discipline, noting that while eight aspirants are currently vying for the party ticket, the local unit remains firmly united behind the central leadership’s eventual decision. He stated that the party is in total agreement with whoever receives the nomination, an assertion intended to contrast the BJP’s internal stability with the perceived disarray of its rivals.

Medhi further alleged that the opposition’s current political maneuvering has sidelined both the general public and grassroots party workers. According to the BJP leader, the claims of unity presented by the opposition are merely superficial and lack substantive coordination on the ground. As the election cycle intensifies, Medhi’s intervention has sharpened the focus on how alliance partners will navigate competing interests while attempting to maintain a credible public front.
