Tinsukia: BJP National President Nitin Nabin on February 19 visited Barekuri in Assam’s Tinsukia district, where he paid obeisance at the historic Bor Namghar and later offered tributes at the Maidam of Swargadeo Sarbananda Singha, the revered ruler of the Matak Kingdom.
At the Bor Namghar in Barekuri, Nabin sought blessings and interacted with devotees and members of the local community. He was accorded a traditional welcome by the Namghar’s Gayan-Bayan troupe, whose devotional music and performances added a spiritual fervour to the visit. Women devotees also extended ceremonial blessings to the BJP leader, marking the occasion with customary warmth and respect.

Later in the day, Nabin travelled to Guijan, where he paid homage at the Maidam, or memorial, of Swargadeo Sarbananda Singha. The visit highlighted the party’s engagement with Assam’s rich cultural and historical legacy, particularly the contributions of the Matak Kingdom to the region’s history.
Party leaders and local representatives accompanied the BJP national president during the visit. The programme reflected an effort to connect with grassroots communities while acknowledging Assam’s spiritual traditions and historical heritage.
