National, March 17: The Bharatiya Janata Party is set to hold a crucial meeting of its Parliamentary Board in New Delhi on March 17 to finalise candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam.
According to party sources, the high-level meeting will focus on approving the list of candidates for all 126 Assembly constituencies in the state. The meeting is expected to play a decisive role in shaping the party’s electoral strategy ahead of the polls.
Senior leaders, including Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and state BJP president Dilip Saikia, are scheduled to attend the meeting.
Party sources indicated that the final list of candidates is likely to be announced on March 18, covering all constituencies across Assam.
The Assembly elections in the state are being closely watched, with the BJP aiming to strengthen its position, while opposition parties prepare to mount a challenge in what is expected to be a closely contested electoral battle.
