Guwahati: The body of a 64-year-old man, identified as Madan Mohan Deuri Bharali from North Lakhimpur, was recovered from a canal near the CM Vigilance office in Guwahati on Sunday.
Police said the man, who had been missing since November 6, was believed to have been dead for several days. Bharali had reportedly been suffering from mental health issues and Alzheimer’s-like symptoms.
According to reports, he went missing from a relative’s residence where he had been staying under the care of a young woman known to his family. Bharali had retired from a nursery under the Agriculture Department.
Birubari Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of death.
