Newly elected Boko-Chaygaon MLA Raju Mesh on June 10 laid the foundation stones for five road projects valued at nearly Rs 6.19 crore under the State-Owned Priority Development Fund (SOPD-G), aimed at improving connectivity in several interior parts of the constituency.
The projects have been taken up in response to long-standing demands from residents who have faced inadequate road infrastructure for years.
The works include the construction of the road from Samaria Satra to Ram Saraswati Academy at a cost of Rs 75 lakh, the Cholapathar to Samaria Old Bus Stand road project worth Rs 77.71 lakh, and the road linking Daspara Adarsha Primary School and No. 2 Makeli Primary School, which has an estimated cost of Rs 2.43 crore.
Other projects launched include the Trilochan ME School to Baralimara PWD Connecting Road via Karital, sanctioned at Rs 90.9 lakh, and the Dhekiajuli Power House to Nepali Para, Gorbandha via Vehua Yuvak Sangha road, for which Rs 1.32 crore has been allocated.
Addressing the foundation-laying programme, Mesh said the people of Boko-Chaygaon would now experience the benefits of having dedicated representation in the Assembly and assured residents that development initiatives would be implemented in a transparent and time-bound manner.
He also lauded the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, stating that the state government is pursuing a vision of inclusive and all-round development across Assam.
During the visit, the MLA inspected erosion-hit areas along the Khorkhori River in Trilochan village and interacted with local residents regarding measures to tackle the problem. He noted that four road projects had already been inaugurated earlier in the constituency.
Recalling the Chief Minister’s announcement during the election campaign regarding a special development package of Rs 200 crore for Boko-Chaygaon, Mesh said planning for the utilisation of the package is already underway.
According to the MLA, several infrastructure and development projects are expected to be rolled out in the coming months as part of efforts to accelerate growth and improve public amenities across the constituency.
