GUWAHATI, Oct 3: The Community Health Centre (CHC) in Boko, Kamrup district, has received medical equipment worth around Rs 47 lakh under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI), aimed at strengthening healthcare services at the facility.
The equipment, facilitated through the AVA Foundation, was formally handed over to the health centre at a programme attended by local public representatives and officials.
The consignment includes a hydraulic operation theatre table, anaesthesia workstation, two labour tables, four OT lights, two patient monitors, two six-channel ECG machines and a portable 100 mA mobile X-ray machine.
The laboratory has also been equipped with a hematology analyser, 300-litre blood storage refrigerator, thyroid profile testing machine, electrolytes analyser, fully automated biochemistry analyser and two digital laboratory centrifuges.
Other equipment includes a dental chair, portable dental X-ray machine, two infusion pumps, two bipolar diathermy units and an RO water purifier.
Boko-Chaygaon MLA Raju Mech, Assistant CDC Raben Deuri and Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council chairman Sonaram Rabha attended the handover programme, along with other officials and representatives of the AVA Foundation.
Boko CHC Deputy Superintendent Dr Apurba Talukdar said the 18 items were valued at approximately Rs 47 lakh. He said the health centre served around two lakh people, more than 60 per cent of whom belonged to tribal communities.
The upgraded equipment is expected to expand diagnostic, laboratory, surgical, maternity and dental services at the CHC and reduce the need for patients to seek advanced medical facilities elsewhere, thereby helping lower their out-of-pocket expenses.
