Boulder Falls on Tourist Vehicle, Major Landslide Hits Tawang Highway

TAWANG, Oct 7: A large boulder fell onto a tourist vehicle along the Dirang-Padma road in Arunachal Pradesh, while a major landslide was reported on the Tawang National Highway, raising fresh concerns over travel safety in the mountainous region.

The tourists escaped unhurt after the driver noticed the boulder dislodging from the hillside and quickly moved the vehicle away from its path. The timely action prevented a potentially serious accident.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

The landslide and falling boulder highlighted the risks faced by motorists and tourists travelling through the hilly stretches of the Tawang National Highway, particularly during adverse weather conditions.

The latest incidents have also renewed concerns over the safety of travellers using the highway, which serves as a key road link through the mountainous terrain of Arunachal Pradesh.
