Gossaigaon: Tension gripped Gossaigaon town on Monday evening as hundreds of workers of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) from the 2 No. Guma constituency staged a massive protest at the party’s district office, demanding the inclusion of their elected representative, Entaz Ali, as an Executive Member (EM) in the newly formed Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).
According to reports, the protest began around 6 p.m., with party workers taking out a large procession through the main thoroughfares of Gossaigaon before assembling at the BPF district office premises. The agitators raised slogans such as “Entaz Ali Zindabad,” “Appoint Entaz Ali as EM,” and “BPF Zindabad,” echoing their anger and disappointment over the party’s recent nominations.

The demonstration follows the BPF’s clear majority win in the BTC elections, after which the party announced 12 Executive Members from various constituencies. However, the exclusion of Entaz Ali, a long-time loyalist who secured a resounding victory from the stronghold of Guma constituency, has sparked strong resentment among local supporters.
Guma has remained a key BPF bastion for years, and local workers claimed that the constituency’s consistent loyalty to the party deserved recognition in the new council. “Our leader, Entaz Ali, has always stood by the people and the party. Denying him a post in the Executive Council is unfair. We will not back down until justice is done,” said a protesting worker.

Party sources disclosed that if the leadership fails to address the demand soon, workers from Guma may escalate their agitation in the coming days. Meanwhile, police presence was strengthened in and around the protest site to maintain law and order. The situation remained peaceful, though tense, until late evening.
