BRO Completes 180-Foot Bailey Bridge in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kurung Kumey, Boosting Border Connectivity

Itanagar, July 2: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has successfully completed the construction of a 180-foot Bailey bridge in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kurung Kumey district, restoring a key transport link to remote border regions and enhancing strategic connectivity near the frontier.

In an official statement, the BRO said its personnel carried out the construction under extremely demanding conditions, battling continuous monsoon rainfall, the risk of flash floods and difficult mountainous terrain to finish the project.

The newly built triple-double reinforced Bailey bridge is expected to strengthen critical border infrastructure while providing an essential transport link for residents of isolated villages in the district.

BRO officials said the project demonstrates the dedication of its teams, who worked tirelessly despite severe logistical and environmental challenges. They noted that the bridge will not only reinforce national security infrastructure but also serve as an important lifeline for communities living in remote border areas.

The bridge was constructed by Team 85 Road Construction Company (RCC) and the 756 Task Force under Project Arunank, the BRO’s flagship initiative for developing strategic roads and bridges across the challenging terrain of Arunachal Pradesh.

Project Arunank has been instrumental in improving infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), including the development of important road networks such as the Hapoli-Sarli-Huri route.

Officials said the bridge will substantially improve the operational mobility of the armed forces by enabling quicker movement of troops and military equipment. It is also expected to provide reliable all-weather connectivity to remote villages, improving access to essential services and strengthening economic links with the rest of the country.

The BRO stated that the successful completion of the bridge reflects its continued commitment to expanding border infrastructure under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative while ensuring dependable connectivity in India’s remote frontier regions.
