Aizawl, Nov 22: A joint operation by the Border Security Force (BSF) Aizawl and the Excise & Narcotics Department, Mizoram, resulted in the seizure of narcotics valued at ₹4.79 crore and the arrest of four suspects, including two nationals from Myanmar. The operation began late Thursday night and continued until the early hours of Saturday.
The action was initiated after authorities received intelligence inputs regarding the transport of illegal substances along the Seling–Aizawl route. Officers intercepted a suspicious vehicle on National Highway 6 at around 10:30 p.m. on November 21. Although no drugs were found during the initial search, interrogation of the vehicle occupants pointed to the existence of a hidden consignment in Aizawl.
Following the information, the suspects were escorted to Chandmari West, where officers identified a potential hideout. At around 4:30 a.m., officials carried out a search in the presence of independent witnesses and found two additional suspects inside the premises.
During questioning, the group voluntarily produced two bags containing narcotics. A detailed inspection revealed six packets of suspected methamphetamine weighing 5.89 kilograms and three soap cases of suspected heroin weighing 41 grams. Officials estimated the combined value of the seized substances at ₹4,79,66,500.
All four accused were taken into custody, and the confiscated materials were handed over to the Excise & Narcotics Department for further legal action. Authorities stated that the success of the operation was due to precise intelligence sharing and close coordination between agencies.
The BSF reaffirmed that it will continue collaborating with law enforcement bodies to combat cross-border drug trafficking and protect communities from the rising influence of narcotics networks.
