BSF Head Constable Found Dead at Border Outpost in Assam’s Sribhumi, Inquiry Underway

A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel allegedly died by suicide while on duty along the international border in Assam’s Sribhumi district on Sunday, June 14, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Prem Kumar (44), a Head Constable of the 171 Battalion of the BSF and a resident of Punjab.

According to preliminary information, the jawan allegedly shot himself with his service rifle while deployed at a border outpost.

Following the incident, a magistrate, accompanied by BSF personnel and local police officials, reached the location and initiated the required legal procedures.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, while authorities have launched an inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officials said further investigation into the matter is in progress.
