BTC Revises School Timings in Five Districts Amid Heatwave Conditions

The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has revised school timings across its jurisdiction from Monday, August 17, amid rising temperatures and heatwave-like conditions.

The order, issued by the Director of Education, BTC, Kokrajhar, on August 14, applies to government, provincialised and private schools and will remain in force until further orders.

Under the revised schedule, Lower Primary schools will operate from 7.30 am to 11.30 am, while Middle English schools will function from 7.30 am to noon. Higher Secondary classes will be held from 7.30 am to 12.30 pm.

The BTC Education Department said the change was aimed at protecting students’ health, safety and well-being amid the prevailing heat.

The revised timings cover schools in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Tamulpur and Udalguri districts. The order, signed by Director of Education J.P. Brahma, has been circulated to district commissioners, inspectors of schools and other education officials for necessary action.
