Sports Desk: Australian all-rounder Cameron Green became the most expensive player in the ongoing IPL 2026 mini-auction at the Etihad Arena, with three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) securing his services for a staggering ₹25.20 crore. Reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) also made headlines by acquiring Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer for ₹7 crore.
Green, registered as a batter due to a registration oversight by his manager, surpassed the previous record held by his Australia teammate Mitchell Starc, whom KKR had bought for ₹24.75 crore in the IPL 2024 auction. Green made his IPL debut in 2023 after being bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) for ₹17.5 crore, becoming the second-most-expensive overseas player at the time and the priciest Australian player in IPL history. He most recently played for RCB in IPL 2024, scoring 255 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 143.25 and picking up 10 wickets in 13 matches at an economy of 8.61.
