National, March 2: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on March 2 assured that the Centre is acting swiftly to safeguard Indian nationals caught in the escalating Israel-Iran conflict.
Addressing reporters, Rijiju said the government responds promptly in crisis situations under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian missions abroad are closely coordinating rescue and evacuation efforts.
Echoing similar views, Odisha minister Prithviraj Harichandan said the Prime Minister and the Ministry of External Affairs are making comprehensive efforts to evacuate Indian citizens. “The government has planned, and everything is on schedule. Not a single person will be left behind,” he stated.
The reassurances come amid growing concerns over the safety of Indians, including students, in the conflict-hit West Asia region. On Saturday, Nasir Khuehami, national convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, wrote to the Prime Minister seeking urgent intervention for around 1,200 Kashmiri students stranded in affected areas of Iran. He urged the government to use diplomatic channels to prioritise their safe evacuation along with other Indian nationals.
Official sources indicated that evacuation flights and designated safe corridors are operational, with real-time monitoring mechanisms in place to ensure that no citizen is overlooked during the process.
