Tamulpur: With the Assam Legislative Assembly elections 2026 scheduled for April 9 approaching, political activities have intensified across the 43-Tamulpur constituency. On Tuesday, former Assam cabinet minister Chandan Brahma campaigned extensively in support of NDA candidate Biswajit Daimary.
Brahma addressed a public meeting at Madarbari, held under the chairmanship of Fakruddin Ahmed, president of the Darangajuli Block BPF. Highlighting Daimary’s political experience, Brahma noted his tenure as Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly and as a Rajya Sabha MP. He asserted that with the backing of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary, Daimary would be able to accelerate development in the constituency.

Appealing to voters, Brahma urged people to support Daimary by voting for the lotus symbol and ensure his victory by a significant margin. The meeting was attended by several leaders, including BTC Deputy Speaker Bijit Gwra Narzary, BPF leader Chandrakala Brahma, Manoj Rabha, and Jiten Mochahary, along with other BJP and BPF members.
Speaking to the media later, Brahma expressed confidence in Daimary’s victory and claimed that UPPL leader Pramod Boro would not secure a win in Tamulpur. He also questioned UPPL’s performance in previous BTC elections, stating that the party should focus on its own prospects rather than making broad claims.
