Guwahati: The probe into the death of celebrated singer Zubeen Garg took a fresh turn on Thursday as Assam’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) summoned two of his bodyguards for questioning. Identified as Bora and Baishya, the duo appeared at the CID headquarters where investigators sought details about the events preceding the incident.
The development came on a day when two musicians, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta, arrested in connection with the case, were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court. After proceedings that lasted nearly an hour, both were remanded to 14-day police custody and taken back to the CID office for further interrogation.

Investigators are also scrutinising claims that the accused were in Singapore when Garg died, a timeline that has become central to the ongoing investigation.
The case has triggered widespread public concern, with Garg’s family alleging that he may have been forced into water despite suffering from a medical condition. Officials have underlined that evidence is being collected meticulously to ensure a fair and thorough probe into the high-profile case.
