CIJWS, Assam University Plan Tie-Up for Skill and AI Training

Silchar: In a move aimed at advancing skill development, technology-driven learning and civil–military cooperation in the Northeast, the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS), Vairengte, has initiated collaboration with Assam University.

CIJWS Commandant Major General Kulvir Singh, accompanied by Major Manish Bansal, called on Assam University Vice-Chancellor Professor Rajive Mohan Pant and senior university officials at the International Guest House. The interaction focused on developing a framework for joint academic and training initiatives between the two institutions.

Emphasising the role of emerging technologies in national security, Major General Singh said the armed forces must integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their preparedness to meet future strategic challenges. He proposed the introduction of specialised AI training courses for defence personnel with academic support from Assam University.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pant briefed the visiting officers on the university’s ongoing skill development programmes under the Skill Hub initiative, noting that these modules could serve both civilian and military needs. He also requested CIJWS assistance in launching self-defence courses for female students of the university. Major General Singh welcomed the proposal and agreed to extend support.

The meeting was attended by Dean (Academics) Prof. Chiraranjan Bhattacharjee, Dean (Research and Consultancy) Prof. Piyush Pandey, Controller of Examinations Dr. Suprabir Dutta Roy, College Development Council Director Jayanta Bhattacharjee and faculty members from various departments. University officials described the engagement as a meaningful step toward institutional collaboration that could enhance national capacity-building efforts in the Northeast.
