Gossaigaon: With just seven days left for the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) polls, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a massive election rally at Gurufela in Saraibil BTC constituency on Sunday in support of BJP candidate Gosai Basumatary.
In his speech, the Chief Minister assured the people that if the BJP forms the BTC government, corruption will be completely eradicated and all welfare schemes will be delivered directly to beneficiaries’ accounts without middlemen. He criticized the past 17 years of BPF rule and five years of UPPL governance, stating that development remained far below expectations.

Dr. Sarma announced that five lakh additional women in BTC will be included under the Orunodoi scheme. He also promised the establishment of a college and a 30-bed hospital in Gurufela, while reiterating that land rights, equal opportunities, and dignity as “first-class citizens” would be ensured for all communities living in BTC.
Citing a recent public demand at Gossaigaon, the Chief Minister said that halts for Vande Bharat, North East Express, and Kamrup Express trains at Gossaigaon Hat station have already been approved and will begin from tomorrow. He further declared ex gratia assistance of ₹5 lakh each to the families of five youths who lost their lives in a road accident in Gurufela last year.

The rally also witnessed the participation of Assam Cabinet Minister Ashok Singhal, who expressed confidence in BJP’s victory across multiple constituencies including Saraibil. Other key attendees included Tuliram Ronghang, CEM of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, BJP candidate Gosai Basumatary, Kokrajhar district BJP vice-president Jethmal Malu, district secretary Iti Sarkar, and several senior leaders.
