Guwahati, March 23: Leaders of the Indian National Congress and its alliance partners intensified election preparations on March 23, the final day for filing nominations for the Assam Assembly elections, with coordinated activities across multiple constituencies.
Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Gaurav Gogoi is set to lead a rally in Jorhat before filing his nomination from the constituency. The procession will begin at Jorhat Stadium and proceed to the District Commissioner’s office.
In Guwahati, Dispur candidate Mira Borthakur Goswami commenced her day from her residence and offered prayers at Ganesh Mandir before heading to submit her nomination papers. New Guwahati candidate Shantanu Bora will assemble with party workers at Rajiv Bhawan before proceeding to the DC office.
Jalukbari candidate Bidisha Neog will also take out a procession from her residence in Garchuk ahead of filing her nomination.
In Sonitpur district, Congress candidates Kartik Kurmi from Rangapara, Batas Orang from Dhekiajuli, and Sunil Chettri from Naduar are scheduled to file their nominations at 11 AM.
Party sources indicated that all candidates have completed necessary preparations and are expected to submit their nomination papers within the stipulated deadline, marking a crucial phase in the run-up to the Assembly elections.
