Gossaigaon: With an eye on the upcoming 2026 Assam Assembly elections, the Kokrajhar District Congress Committee has announced the appointment of observers across all five Assembly constituencies of the district to strengthen grassroots-level organisation and intensify outreach among the people.
Addressing a press conference at the Gossaigaon Press Club today, District Congress President Prem Hasda and Vice-President Nur Alam Sheikh informed that the decision was taken following the directives of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) under the leadership of State President Gaurav Gogoi, during meetings held on October 29 and November 2. The initiative aims to reinforce booth-level committees under the state-wide programme “Amar Booth, Amar Dayitva” (Our Booth, Our Responsibility).
According to the announcement, the following observers have been appointed for the respective constituencies: Gossaigaon LAC: Mofidul Islam Ahmed, Shohen Brahma, Dinesh Sharma, Dotma LAC: Jahirul Islam Mondal, Malek Mohibul Haque, Manjila Bibi, Kokrajhar LAC: Sibrom Basumatary, Nur Jamal Sheikh, Mohini Mohan Brahma, Baukhungri LAC: Sunil Narzary, Khairul Zaman Mondal, Mamoni Brahma, Parbatjhora LAC: Nur Alam Sheikh, Abu Bakkar Ali, Jahar Ali.

The appointed observers have been tasked with supervising and coordinating all organisational activities within their respective constituencies, in close collaboration with block, mandal, and booth Congress committees to ensure effective implementation of the APCC’s directives.
Speaking at the press conference, District Vice-President Bishwanath Poddar, General Secretary Jahar Ali, and District President of the National Mazdoor Union, Tapan Roy, expressed optimism about the Congress’s growing popularity across the state, including the BTC region. They stated that people from all communities are coming forward to support the Congress party spontaneously, and the momentum will translate into significant success in the 2026 Assembly elections.
They further hoped that the elected representatives from Kokrajhar district will play a key role in strengthening Gaurav Gogoi’s leadership and contribute decisively to the formation of the next government in Assam.
