Guwahati: Congress candidate from Jalukbari, Bidisha Neog, has lodged an FIR at Jalukbari Police Station alleging multiple attacks on her campaign convoy by BJP workers along the Maligaon–Pandu stretch on April 1. In her complaint, Neog stated that despite having necessary campaign permissions, her convoy was initially stopped near Pandu by a group allegedly associated with the BJP. She claimed the group prevented her team from proceeding, verbally abused them, and issued threats.

Neog further alleged that even after rerouting to avoid confrontation, her convoy was intercepted again at multiple locations, including near Pandu College Gate and Aruna Cinema Hall. The attackers, she claimed, were carrying BJP flags and raising slogans in the name of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while carrying out repeated assaults. According to the FIR, several supporters—including women and elderly members—were attacked with sticks and rods, while vehicles in the convoy were vandalised. Bike riders accompanying the convoy were also targeted, forcing some to flee.
Neog alleged that she sustained injuries during the attack, while her husband and several party workers were seriously hurt. She also claimed that women in her team were harassed during the incident. She further stated that despite the presence of police, the situation was not effectively controlled. The injured later received treatment at Central Hospital. Neog said the incident was captured on video and urged authorities to take strict legal action, examine CCTV footage, and ensure adequate security for her and her supporters.
