The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) will roll out its new statewide outreach initiative, “Raijor Padulit Raijor Congress” (People’s Congress at the People’s Doorstep), on December 6 in Dibrugarh. Designed as a grassroots engagement campaign, it aims to reconnect with diverse communities and gather public concerns ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
The launch will take place both physically and across digital platforms, with APCC president Gaurav Gogoi and senior leaders in attendance. The operations will be led by Bhupen Bora, with coordination by Debabrata Saikia.
Central to the campaign is the introduction of Aspiration Boxes, which will be placed across Assam to collect the hopes and concerns of citizens. These submissions will come from tea garden workers, farmers, students, women’s groups, self-help groups, and rural communities. The collected inputs will help shape the party’s Vision Document and 2026 election manifesto, an exercise overseen by Manifesto Committee Chairperson MP Pradyut Bordoloi.
Bordoloi said the campaign seeks to unite all communities across the state and rebuild Assam on a foundation free from corruption and fear. He emphasised that the party’s efforts would be inclusive, drawing inspiration from historical figures such as Chaulung Sukaphaa and Srimanta Sankardeva. He said the programme, beginning December 6, would gather people’s voices to craft a forward-looking manifesto under the banner of a truly people-centric Congress.
During the launch event, tea tribe organisations, student bodies, SHG groups, and farmers’ collectives will submit their aspirations, symbolically marking the campaign’s beginning. Party leaders and workers will also contribute entries to reinforce shared ownership of the initiative.
Following the launch, booth-level, mandal-level and district committees will place Aspiration Boxes across public spaces statewide, including markets, community halls, bus stops, tea garden labour lines, playgrounds, and outside educational institutions. The campaign will expand from Dibrugarh to all 35 districts, with over 3,000 boxes expected to be deployed. Publicity and communication efforts are being handled by MP Rakibul Hussain.
The initiative comes at a time when public frustration over unfulfilled promises under the BJP-led government continues to grow. Concerns include recurring floods despite major dredging proposals, daily wages for tea garden workers remaining below promised levels, unresolved ST status demands, stalled women’s empowerment schemes, high maternal mortality rates, escalating gender-based violence, child trafficking, poor rural healthcare access, wildlife conflict, and rising school dropout rates.
By placing public feedback at the centre of its political roadmap, the APCC aims to craft a manifesto that reflects real ground challenges and demonstrates its commitment to addressing long-standing issues before the next Assembly elections. Senior leader Ripun Bora is overseeing the campaign’s management, while AICC General Secretary Jitendra Singh will guide coordination across all organisational tiers to ensure smooth execution.
