Congress Workers Protest at Rajiv Bhawan Over Dalgaon Seat-Sharing Reports

Guwahati, Feb 25: Tensions flared at Rajiv Bhawan on Wednesday, February 25, as Congress workers from the Dalgaon constituency staged a massive protest amid reports that the party may concede the seat to the Raijor Dal ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam.

Raising slogans against Raijor Dal and expressing strong dissent, agitated cadres gathered at the party’s Guwahati office, warning the leadership against what they described as a “demoralising compromise”. Protesters maintained that Dalgaon has long been a Congress stronghold and argued that conceding the seat would send a negative message to loyal grassroots workers.

The demonstrators further warned that if the Dalgaon ticket was not allotted to a Congress candidate, local workers might consider resigning en masse.

Although the party leadership has not issued an official statement, the intensity of the protest underscored growing internal pressure and highlighted the challenge of managing alliance dynamics without alienating core supporters ahead of a crucial electoral battle.
