Shillong, March 28: Conrad K Sangma on March 28 commended Narendra Modi for what he described as “decisive leadership” in addressing the challenges arising from the evolving situation in West Asia.
The remarks followed a virtual meeting convened by the Prime Minister with chief ministers and lieutenant governors to review the rapidly changing regional scenario. During the interaction, Modi highlighted the fluid nature of the global situation and underscored the need to maintain economic and trade stability, ensure energy security, strengthen industrial and supply chains, and protect the interests of citizens.
Sangma, who participated in the meeting, said the discussion focused on assessing developments and evaluating India’s preparedness and response mechanisms. He noted the importance of coordinated efforts between the Centre and states in dealing with potential implications of the crisis.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s leadership and emphasised that “Team India” remains united in navigating the situation. He also stressed the need to safeguard Indian citizens, particularly those residing or working in the affected region.
The high-level review gains significance against the backdrop of rising tensions in West Asia, which have triggered concerns over regional stability, global energy supplies, and the safety of Indian nationals.
