Itanagar: Authorities in Arunachal Pradesh have successfully intercepted a major supply chain intended for the proscribed ULFA-I (United Liberation Front of Asom – Independent), leading to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a significant cache of medical supplies and essentials near the Myanmar border. The targeted operation was executed in Nampong, a strategic location within the Changlang district.
The operation was launched based on specific, credible intelligence indicating that ULFA-I cadre SS Major General Arunodoi Dohutia had placed a demand for various medicines and other provisions from a resident located in Tinsukia, Assam. The multi-agency effort, coordinated by the Additional SP Hq, involved personnel from both the Arunachal Pradesh Police and the Indian Army, underscoring the collaborative approach to counter-insurgency efforts in the region.
Among the three individuals detained were 50-year-old Jitu Moran, also known as Moina, a resident of Hukani Gaon, Bordubi; 38-year-old Julie Gogoi, who has operated a grocery shop in Nampong since 2001; and her husband, 52-year-old Dipak Gogoi, both residents of Parbatipur, Jagun. The simultaneous action also resulted in the detention of four Myanmarese nationals, who are suspected of being involved in the cross-border transportation of the seized goods directly to ULFA camps situated across the international border.
Officials confirmed that the seized items constitute a substantial collection of medical supplies and other essential provisions, which highlights the established cross-border logistics networks utilized by the insurgent group to sustain its activities. Authorities emphasized that this operation is integral to the continuous efforts to disrupt ULFA-I operations and effectively curb the smuggling of contraband and vital supplies across the border into the region.
