Guwahati: The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), NF Circle, Sumeet Singhal, will conduct a two-day statutory inspection of the newly constructed Murkongselek–Sille section of the Murkongselek–Pasighat New Railway Line Project on February 12 and 13. The Murkongselek–Sille stretch, measuring approximately 15.60 km, forms the first phase of the 26.15 km long Murkongselek–Pasighat railway project under the Tinsukia Division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). Successful completion of the CRS inspection and subsequent authorisation will clear the way for the commencement of regular passenger and freight train services up to Sille, significantly boosting rail connectivity in the region.

During the inspection, the CRS will be accompanied by senior officials of the NFR Construction Organisation, under whose supervision the project has been executed. The inspection is scheduled to begin at 8:30 am from Murkongselek station. The Murkongselek–Pasighat project originates in Assam and extends into Arunachal Pradesh, and is being developed in two phases — Phase I from Murkongselek to Sille (15.60 km) and Phase II from Sille to Pasighat (10.55 km). The alignment includes three new stations at Sille, Labo and Pasighat, along with several major and minor bridges, Road Over Bridges and Road Under Bridges.
Once fully completed, the railway line is expected to enhance connectivity, promote trade and tourism, support economic growth, and improve access to essential commodities in the region, further strengthening socio-economic development in the Northeast.
