Tinsukia: The Seventh Bi-Annual Central Dirak Conference of the All Assam Matak Youth-Student Parishad was successfully held with a three-day colourful programme on September 12, 13 and 14 at the Dirak Public Playground in Kakopathar.The conference was hosted by the Tinsukia District Committee of the All Assam Matak Youth-Student Parishad with support from the Dirak Kakopathar Regional Committee and the people of Dirak.During the open session of the conference, two distinguished awards were conferred in the name of eminent personalities who made remarkable contributions to the Matak community.

The ‘Bir Purush Matatukura Baruah Commemorative Award’ was presented to Minister Bimal Borah, while the ‘Sushil Kumar Gogoi Memorial Literary Award’ was conferred upon Sankar Gohain, Editor of Dainandin Barta .Prior to the award ceremony, traditional dance event Gos Tolor Bihu of Matak community inaugurated. This was followed by a presentation of traditional Husori. The open session then commenced with the welcome song “Swagatam Swagatam Sadou Asom Matak Yuva-Chhatra Parishad” performed under the lyrics, tune, and direction of Amrit Rajkhowa.

The open session witnessed the participation of a host of dignitaries, including the Central President and General Secretary of the Matak Youth-Student Parishad, Central President of the Chhatra Mukti Sangram Samiti Papu Dutta, Central President of Bir Lachit Sena Rantu Pani Phukan, Central Presidents and General Secretaries of the Tai Student Union, Dimasa Student Union, TMPK, and Asomiya Yuva Mancha.Representatives of the Matak Autonomous Council, including David Chetia, Dharma Prasad Konwar, and Debarshi Chetia, along with several other leaders from different organizations were also present.
