
Bilasipara: A tragic road accident rocked Bilasipara on Thursday, leaving one person dead on the spot and several others critically injured. The accident occurred near Chirakuta- Jamduar on National Highway 17, where a passenger e-auto collided head-on with a Maruti Suzuki car. According to eyewitnesses, the e-auto (AS-16-AC-6540) was traveling from Bilasipara towards Chapar, while the Maruti car (AS-16-H-5396) was coming from Guwahati towards Bilasipara. The impact of the collision was so severe that the e-auto overturned and fell into a nearby field, while the car sustained extensive damage. Local residents rushed to rescue the injured and immediately shifted them to Bilasipara Model Hospital. Doctors confirmed that Kabat Ali of Santoshpur died on the spot. Three other critically injured passengers — Taufiqul Islam of Bangalipara, Majnur Rahman of Koimari, and Nousad Ali of Suwapara — were given primary treatment and later referred to Dhubri and Kokrajhar for advanced medical care. The accident has triggered shock and concern among locals, who have urged the administration to implement stricter regulations for e-autos and e-rickshaws in the region.
