Guwahati: Assam Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia has sparked a political storm after questioning the recent transfer of the accused in the Zubeen Garg case from Guwahati Central Jail to Baksa Jail, suggesting that the move may be part of a “deep conspiracy.”
Taking to social media, Saikia wrote, “A bureaucratic incident or a deep conspiracy? Many thoughts are troubling the mind! Guwahati Central Jail is not safe, so the accused in the Zubeen Garg case was sent to a resort-like jail in Baksa.”
Saikia questioned the sudden claim of insecurity at Guwahati Jail, noting that it followed an incident in which Dipankar Barman, owner of DB Stock and an accused in another case, was attacked inside the prison. “Following that, security concerns arose for the accused in the Zubeen Garg case!” he remarked.
He further speculated whether the attack on Barman was orchestrated to create an excuse for transferring the accused to Baksa. “Because without such a pretext, they would not have been able to transfer him so easily to another jail,” Saikia wrote, adding that the entire episode “smells of a major conspiracy.”
The statement has drawn public attention amid growing curiosity over the developments linked to the Zubeen Garg case. Saikia urged authorities to ensure transparency, stating that “everyone deserves to know the truth behind this incident.”
