Shillong is set to host British rock band Def Leppard on 25 March 2026 at JN Stadium, Polo Grounds, marking a major milestone for the Northeast’s growing live music scene.
The Sheffield-formed group will launch its three-city India tour in the Meghalaya capital before performing in Mumbai on 27 March and Bengaluru on 29 March. Tickets will be available from 12 pm on 13 December exclusively on BookMyShow.
Formed in 1977, the band rose to global fame in the 1980s with its hard rock sound and chart-topping albums Pyromania and Hysteria, which sold millions worldwide. Despite lineup changes and the death of guitarist Steve Clark in 1991, Def Leppard remained one of rock’s most enduring acts.
The announcement followed a series of international performances in the region, including American group Blue in Shillong on 11 December and Post Malone’s show in Guwahati on 8 December, underscoring a shift in India’s concert landscape as major artists look beyond traditional metro cities.
The tour, titled Bandland on Tour, is being organised by tourism partner Meghalaya: The Abode of Clouds – The Best, with Live Circus as the event partner. Industry observers said hosting the tour opener highlighted Shillong’s rising influence and its long-standing musical legacy.
