Dhakuakhana: Sports enthusiasts in Dhakuakhana are set for the inaugural Dhakuakhana Premier League (DPL) Season-1, described by organisers as the first prize-money tennis ball cricket tournament in the area. The day-and-night tournament will be held at the Dhakuakhana Mini Stadium from October 1 to 4. According to the organising committee, eight teams will compete in the tournament. More than 200 players registered for the event, while the player auction is scheduled for September 27.

The tournament will begin on October 1 with a cleanliness drive at 6 am, followed by a tree plantation programme at 7 am. Paribesh Mitra of Assam Devajit Phukan will lead the plantation drive. Organising committee president Bitopan Gogoi will hoist the flag at 8 am, while Dhakuakhana Co-District Commissioner Apurba Kumar Nath will inaugurate the tournament at 8:30 am. League matches will be played from 9 am onwards from October 1 to 3.
The closing ceremony on October 4 will feature two semi-finals, an exhibition match between CDC XI and DPL Organizers XI, and the grand finale at 10 pm. The prize distribution ceremony will follow at midnight. Organising committee president Bitopan Gogoi and secretary Biswajit Baruah appealed to sports lovers to support the tournament. Matches will also be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube.
