Dhubri Medical College & Hospital Gets NABH Accreditation, Marking Major Boost to Healthcare Standards in Lower Assam

Dhubri Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) has been awarded accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), marking a significant milestone for public healthcare infrastructure in Lower Assam. The recognition places the government-run institution among hospitals that meet nationally prescribed standards for patient care, safety protocols and hospital administration.

The development was announced by Assam Cabinet Minister and Dhubri district Guardian Minister Ashok Singhal through a social media post.

NABH accreditation is regarded as a key quality benchmark in India’s healthcare system and is granted only after a detailed assessment of hospital functioning across multiple parameters, including patient safety, clinical practices, infection control, medication management, operational efficiency and quality assurance systems.

Officials at the institution said the accreditation is the result of sustained efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and standardise hospital processes over time.

DMCH Principal Dr. Ankumani Saikia said the recognition reflects continued commitment to improving patient-centric healthcare services, adding that the achievement was made possible through the collective efforts of healthcare workers and administrative support staff.

Hospital Superintendent Gunajit Das also described the accreditation as an important step that is expected to enhance institutional processes and increase public confidence in the services provided by the medical college and hospital.

Healthcare observers noted that the accreditation could significantly improve access to quality medical care for people in Dhubri and nearby districts by strengthening clinical governance and reducing the need for referrals to hospitals outside the region for several treatments.

With NABH accreditation now in place, DMCH is expected to function under stronger quality monitoring frameworks aligned with national standards, further expanding its role as a key public healthcare institution in western Assam.
