Dhubri Police Arrest Two in Statewide Anti-Tout Drive

DHUBRI, Sept 7: Dhubri Police apprehended two persons from different locations in the district as part of Assam Police’s ongoing statewide drive against illegal touts, brokers and fraudsters.

The operation followed intelligence inputs about alleged fraudulent activities. The arrested persons were identified as Abu Bakkar Siddique, 26, of Jhagrarpar Pt-I (Jyoti Nagar), and Jaharuddin Sheikh, 30, of River Block No. 10 (Majer Char), both under Dhubri Police Station.

Police said the crackdown aimed to dismantle networks of alleged touts and brokers who exploit members of the public under various pretexts.

The two accused were taken to Dhubri Police Station for questioning. Police were investigating to identify other links and ascertain whether a wider network was involved.

Further legal action will follow based on the findings of the investigation.
