Entertainment, Jan 4: Dhurandhar set a new domestic box office record by becoming the first Hindi film to collect Rs 800 crore net in India, achieving the milestone on its 30th day in theatres.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the figures on January 4, stating that the spy-action thriller entered the Rs 800 crore club on its fifth Saturday. The film’s steady and sustained run marked a rare achievement in recent years and placed it among the highest-grossing Indian films, with collections still continuing.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film received widespread appreciation from the industry. Actor couple Suriya and Jyotika publicly praised the film, describing it as a “masterpiece” and lauding Dhar’s direction. Actor R Madhavan, who portrayed Indian spymaster Sanyal, acknowledged their appreciation and expressed his gratitude.
The film, led by Ranveer Singh, also featured Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal in prominent roles. Its box office performance established it as one of the biggest Hindi releases of 2025.
The makers have announced that Dhurandhar is planned as a two-part franchise, with the sequel scheduled for release on Eid 2026. Following the record-breaking success of the first instalment, expectations for the next chapter remain high.
