Digital Fertilizer Distribution System ‘FFS’ Launched in Sonitpur 

Tezpur: With the aim of facilitating farmers and making the fertilizer distribution process more transparent, prompt and regulated, the digital system named ‘Framework for Fertilizer Sale’ (FFS) has been formally launched in the district under the aegis of the Sonitpur District Administration and at the initiative of the District Agriculture Department. The ambitious system was formally launched at a programme organized today in the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s office here.

       Through this special digital platform developed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’ Welfare, Government of India, farmers will be able to make advance booking for government subsidized fertilizers with the help of their mobile application. Farmers will get the unique facility of selecting their preferred sale centre or retail shop from the comfort of their homes to collect fertilizers, which will eliminate the problem of standing in long queues and ensure timely supply of fertilizers. Speaking on the occasion, District Commissioner Anand Kumar Das said that this new digital system will bring extensive transparency in the fertilizer distribution process of the district and will help the administration in preventing artificial scarcity. He also urged the fertilizer sellers to strictly follow the government rules and the guidelines of FFS.

       In this process, after registration, a separate QR code will be generated on the farmers’ mobile phone. By showing that code at the selected sale centre, farmers will be able to purchase fertilizer very safely and easily through Aadhaar-based biometric authentication. Representatives of the MLAs of the district were present at the launch ceremony and assured full cooperation in making the scheme successful. District Agriculture Officer Pradeep Talukdar, District Information and Public Relations Officer Ankita Gogoi, other officials of the District Agriculture Department, along with office bearers of the Retail and Wholesale Fertilizer Dealers Association and local dealers, and several selected farmers were present in the programme.

       The District Agriculture Department has urged every farmer of the district to avail the benefits of this digital service and to register their names. For detailed information about the scheme and assistance regarding the registration process, farmers can contact the Agriculture Extension Assistants and Agriculture Development Officers of their area. Additionally, a meeting of the district-level monitoring committee for the National Food Security and Nutrition Mission and the Horticulture Mission for North-East and Himalayan States was also held.
