Guwahati, Feb 21: Dilip Saikia on Saturday, February 21, alleged that a protest staged by the Youth Congress during the AI Impact Summit in Delhi was carried out on the “direct instruction” of Rahul Gandhi.
Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, Saikia criticised what he described as a “shirtless protest” at the summit and termed it a “global embarrassment” for the country. He said the incident brought national shame and reflected what he called the Congress party’s anti-national stance.
The Assam BJP president demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the episode to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the protest. He further stated that the BJP and its allies’ youth wings would organise demonstrations across the state to “expose the ugly face” of the Congress.
The Youth Congress had not issued any response to the allegations at the time of reporting.
