The government has reduced the waiting period for booking domestic LPG refills from 45 days to 25 days, bringing the booking interval to a uniform 25 days for consumers across urban and rural areas.
Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi announced the revised arrangement on Monday, saying consumers could now book their next refill after a 25-day gap.
The decision is expected to provide relief, particularly to rural consumers who were earlier required to wait 45 days before booking a fresh refill.
The government introduced differentiated booking intervals in March 2026 as a temporary demand-management measure amid supply pressures following the conflict in the Middle East. Urban consumers were allowed to book refills after 25 days, while the interval for rural consumers was set at 45 days.
The Petroleum Ministry said the arrangement had now been revised following an improvement in domestic LPG availability and a considerable decline in refill backlogs.
The revised rule has taken immediate effect, with the 25-day booking interval now applying uniformly to domestic LPG consumers across the country.
