Drug Trafficking Racket busted in Kachua, One Arrested

Nagaon:  In a major crackdown on illegal drug trade, Kachua Police busted a drug trafficking network at Makhan Gaon in Nagaon district, arresting one accused and seizing heroin and cash from the spot. The successful operation has brought relief to residents, who have long raised concerns over rising drug abuse in the locality.

Based on specific intelligence, a team from Kachua Police Station raided the residence of Abed Ali. During the search, police recovered 3.07 grams of heroin packed in 14 small plastic containers. Officers also seized ₹5,000 in ₹200 notes, suspected to be money from drug sales. Following the discovery, police detained Azgar Ali, who was allegedly using the house to run drug distribution operations. Preliminary investigation suggests the seized heroin was meant for local circulation.

An FIR has been registered by Sub-Inspector Abhijit Gogoi, and further investigation is underway to trace the drug supply chain and identify more people involved in the racket. Police sources said additional arrests are likely as the probe progresses.

The raid forms part of an intensified campaign by Nagaon Police to curb drug trafficking across the district. Residents of Makhan Gaon have welcomed the action and urged continued vigilance to keep the area drug-free.
