Guwahati: Drukair has resumed its twice-weekly flights from Paro to Bangkok via Guwahati from today, marking a significant boost to regional connectivity. The airline will also introduce a third weekly flight on the Singapore route starting April 7, 2026. The reinstated Paro–Guwahati–Bangkok service is expected to revive a key travel corridor connecting Bhutan, Northeast India, and Thailand. The route has historically supported tourism, medical travel, education, and business exchanges across the region. Bangkok, a major international gateway, is likely to further enhance outbound and inbound travel opportunities.

In addition, the increased frequency on the Paro–Guwahati–Singapore route comes in response to rising passenger demand. Singapore’s position as a global aviation and financial hub offers seamless onward connectivity to destinations across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and beyond. Drukair CEO Tandi Wangchuk described the move as a “significant step” in the airline’s network expansion strategy, adding that improved connectivity would support tourism and economic engagement. He noted that the expansion aligns with India’s Act East Policy and complements emerging developments like the Gelephu Mindfulness City in Bhutan.

Jalpa H Vithalani of Global Aviation Services Pvt. Ltd., Drukair’s India representative, said the Bangkok route would strengthen cultural and economic ties while facilitating smoother travel for people across Northeast India and Southeast Asia. The development is expected to provide greater flexibility and improved connectivity for passengers and cargo in the region.
