KALIABOR: An electronics shop in the heart of Jakhalabandha in Assam’s Kaliabor was gutted in a fire on Saturday, August 29, with goods worth around Rs 10 lakh destroyed.
The shop, owned by businessman Sandeep Goswami, was completely gutted in the blaze. Several mobile phones and other electronic items kept inside the premises were destroyed.
A short circuit was suspected to have triggered the fire, although the exact cause was yet to be confirmed.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. Their prompt action prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring commercial establishments and the nearby residential area.
