Bajali: An unexpected incident disrupted a cultural rally organised as part of the centenary celebrations of Bajali Higher Secondary School in Pathsala, when an elephant participating in the procession kicked a man, triggering panic among the crowd. The incident occurred while the rally was passing through a public road and was witnessed by a large gathering of students, teachers and local residents. A video of the episode, showing the moment the elephant struck a pedestrian, has since gone viral on social media.
According to eyewitnesses, the elephant, which was part of the cultural display, suddenly became restless and attacked a man who had reportedly come too close to the animal. The injured person was immediately helped by people present at the scene. However, details about the extent of his injuries were not immediately available. The incident has raised serious concerns over the use of elephants in public rallies and cultural processions, particularly on busy roads with large crowds.
