Guwahati, April 8: Polling teams carrying Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and election materials were dispatched across five Assembly constituencies in Kamrup Metropolitan district on Tuesday, as authorities stepped up preparations ahead of polling.
District Commissioner Swapneel Paul said the district has a total of 1,218 polling stations. To streamline operations, a centralised dispatch and receipt centre has been established at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre, enabling efficient distribution of election materials across all five Legislative Assembly Constituencies.
He added that more than 10,000 personnel have been deployed for the election process, ensuring coordinated management at multiple levels. Security arrangements have also been intensified, with police personnel accompanying each polling party to maintain law and order.
Officials expressed confidence that the comprehensive logistical and security measures in place will facilitate a smooth, secure, and transparent polling process across the district.
