Fake Doctor arrested in Dergaon

Dergaon: In a major crackdown on quackery, the Golaghat Police on Sunday arrested a man posing as a doctor who had been illegally running a medical clinic at D.K.D. College Road in Dergaon.

The accused, identified as R.C. Sen, was found treating patients without any valid medical degree or registration. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at the premises and seized several medical instruments, prescription pads, and documents from the clinic.

Confirming the arrest, Golaghat Police posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“Golaghat Police arrested #FakeDoctor R.C. Sen, who falsely claimed to be a medical practitioner & was operating a clinic at D.K.D. College Road, Dergaon. Case registered at Dergaon PS against him. Legal action initiated as per law.”

A case has been registered at the Dergaon Police Station, and investigations are underway to ascertain how long the accused had been practicing and whether others were involved in the illegal operation.

Police officials stated that strict legal measures will be taken against the offender, underscoring that unauthorized medical practice poses a serious threat to public health. Authorities also appealed to the public to verify a practitioner’s credentials before seeking treatment, as part of efforts to curb the growing menace of quackery in the region.
