Travis Scott’s highly anticipated Mumbai concert took an unexpected turn for many attendees after dozens of fans reported thefts during the show. The American rapper performed at Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 19, drawing a massive crowd — and, according to police, suspected organised thieves who allegedly used the event’s high energy to their advantage.
Mumbai Police confirmed that at least 24 mobile phones and 12 gold chains were reported missing after the event. Officers believe the thefts were carried out by a coordinated group operating in the densely packed audience, where fans were unlikely to notice items being stolen during the performance.
A case has been registered at Tardeo police station against unidentified individuals under Sections 303(2) and 304 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police sources said criminal groups often target crowded concerts and festivals, where loud music and close proximity make pickpocketing easier and harder to detect.
Authorities expect the number of complaints to rise as more attendees realise their valuables are missing. Officials said many concertgoers are still checking their belongings and attempting to trace phones before filing formal reports.
The incident has raised concerns among event attendees and organisers, serving as a reminder for concertgoers to remain vigilant and secure personal items, even in highly charged and festive environments. Police have begun reviewing complaints and are working to identify possible suspects based on available leads.
