Dima Hasao: A fatal road accident was reported at Longku under Umrangso police station in Dima Hasao district on Sunday, September 7.
According to police sources, a truck bearing registration number NL 01 L 0395 lost control and collided head-on with a motorcycle (registration number AS 31 B 5082). The impact of the crash was severe, killing two persons on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Shahid and Marukh, both residents of Udali No. 4 and aged above 18. Police said further details regarding the victims are awaited as investigations are underway.
Personnel from Umrangso police station rushed to the accident site to take stock of the situation and initiate necessary formalities. Preliminary information suggests reckless driving could be a factor, though the exact cause of the mishap has not been confirmed.
The tragic incident has once again raised concerns over road safety in the hilly terrains of Dima Hasao, where sharp curves and treacherous driving conditions often lead to accidents.
