Fifth Convocation of Royal Global University Concludes: 1967 Degrees Awarded

Guwahati: The Fifth Convocation of The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) was held today in a grand ceremony graced by eminent dignitaries and academicians. A total of 1,967 students received their degrees, including 32 Ph.D. scholars, 777 postgraduates, and 1,093 undergraduates.

Four distinguished personalities were conferred Honoris Causa Degrees: Dr. Naresh Trehan (Doctor of Science), Sanjiv Goenka (Doctor of Letters), Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi (Doctor of Literature), and Mahesh Agarwal (Doctor of Law).

The Convocation was presided over by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Visitor of RGU, and attended by Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi, Rajya Sabha MP, who delivered the Convocation Address. Also present were Minister Bimal Borah, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Chancellor Dr. A.K. Pansari, Pro-Chancellor A.K. Modi, and Vice Chancellor Prof. A.K. Buragohain.

Governor Acharya, in his address, emphasized the values of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and lauded RGU for aligning with the National Education Policy’s focus on holistic and value-based learning. Dr. Trivedi highlighted the Northeast’s vital role in “Rising India,” drawing symbolic inspiration from the “land of the rising sun.”

Chancellor Dr. Pansari envisioned producing 50,000 leaders and entrepreneurs from RGU by 2047, with a green motto: “Planting a Sapling—A Must Today, For Survival Tomorrow.”

Chancellor’s Gold Medals were awarded to Deep Deka (MCA) and Tanmayee Devchoudhury (BA English). Five special Salvers and over 100 medals were presented to meritorious students.

The ceremony began with an impressive Academic Procession and concluded with the National Anthem, marking a memorable milestone in RGU’s journey of excellence and innovation.
