Former Manipur MP Dr Lorho S. Pfoze Joins NPP

Shillong:  In a major political development, Dr Lorho S. Pfoze, former Lok Sabha member from Outer Manipur, officially joined the National People’s Party (NPP) on Tuesday at the party’s headquarters in Shillong.

The induction marks a strategic step for the NPP as it strengthens its footprint across the Northeast. Welcoming him, Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP National President Conrad K. Sangma said, “Dr Lorho brings to the party his experience, wisdom, and support base from Manipur. We are confident he will be an asset to the party and further NPP’s mantra of One Voice, One North East.”

Sangma praised Pfoze as “a soft-spoken, honest, and transparent leader, widely accepted across communities in Manipur,” positioning his entry within the party’s broader regional ambitions. He reaffirmed the NPP’s commitment to the vision of its late founder Purno Agitok Sangma, to serve as a unified voice for the Northeast.

Dr Pfoze, in his address, pledged support to the party’s inclusive approach, saying, “We, as indigenous communities, should work together in the region. The vision of late Purno Sangma is an inspiration for us all.”

The ceremony was attended by NPP National Working President James K. Sangma, Meghalaya Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong, state ministers, MLAs from Manipur, and senior party leaders.
