Security forces and Manipur Police have stepped up coordinated operations against banned insurgent groups across the state, resulting in the arrest of four active cadres belonging to different outfits over the past two days, officials said.
On December 16, 2025, security forces apprehended an active member of the National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM) from Bishnupur district. The arrested individual has been identified as Ningthoujam Khelemba Meitei, also known as Chaningkhomba, aged 28, a resident of Churachandpur Khumujamba Meitei Leikai under Zomi Villa in Imphal East district. He was picked up from Nambol Bazar near the Leimapokpam crossing under the jurisdiction of Nambol Police Station.
A day earlier, on December 15, Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of the Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) from Imphal West district. The accused, Sanasam Thajamanbi Singh, also known by the aliases Ibungo and Thoi, aged 40, hails from Thongju Boroi Makhong and was taken into custody from his locality under Singjamei Police Station. A mobile phone was recovered from his possession during the arrest.
Another operation on December 16 led to the arrest of an active cadre of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK). The individual, identified as Wahengbam Ibomcha Singh alias Makar, aged 43, a resident of Kumbi Khugawangma under Kumbi Police Station in Bishnupur district, was arrested from his residence.
On the same day, security forces also detained an active cadre and alleged extortionist of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP–PWG). The arrested person, Sapam Dhanajit alias Momocha Singh, aged 42, is a resident of Wabagai Thingel Leikai in Kakching district. He was apprehended from Umathel Mathak Leikai under Waikhong Police Station, and a mobile phone was seized during the operation.
Security officials said all the arrested individuals have been taken into custody for further investigation and legal proceedings. They reiterated that such sustained and coordinated operations would continue as part of ongoing efforts to curb insurgency, extortion and other unlawful activities in Manipur.
