Four Titabar Youth Set Up Upper Assam’s First Modern Poultry Farm

Titabar: In an inspiring display of innovation and self-reliance, four young entrepreneurs from Titabar in Jorhat district have established Upper Assam’s first temperature-controlled poultry farm using German technology. At a time when many youths migrate in search of jobs, Parameswar Sonowal and his three friends have chosen to build opportunities within their community through their modern poultry venture, aptly named “Shashwat.”

Spread across a large plot of land in Titabar, the farm was inaugurated by Kumud Chandra Kachari, Chief Executive Member of the Thengal Autonomous Council, who hailed it as a model of local self-reliance and sustainable rural development.

“This is a remarkable initiative that reflects the spirit of Assamese self-dependence. The Shashwat farm, equipped with modern automated feeding and watering systems, can house up to 14,000 chickens at once. Such ventures will generate employment and inspire youth across Assam,” Kachari said during the inauguration.

Sharing the journey behind the project, founder Parameswar Sonowal said, “It all began as a casual discussion among friends about creating a modern, environment-controlled poultry farm. After nine months of hard work, ‘Shashwat’ became a reality.”

Sonowal added that the farm’s goal extends beyond business — it aims to create jobs and promote entrepreneurship. “This project has already provided employment to local youths, and we plan to set up 8 to 10 more farms, each with a capacity of 20,000–25,000 chickens, across Assam,” he said.

According to Kachari, the first batch of chickens will be ready for sale within 35 to 40 days, each weighing around 2.5 to 3 kilograms. “This hygienic, automated farm stands apart from traditional setups and showcases what young entrepreneurs can achieve by combining technology with vision,” he noted.

By harnessing global technology and local talent, the four youth have created not just a modern agricultural enterprise but also a beacon of hope for Assam’s journey toward self-reliant, technology-driven rural growth.
